  SAC School-Wide Model

Because so many Illinois public schools face an immediate need to align both curriculum and assessment to the Illinois Learning Standards, the Standards-Aligned Classroom Initiative now offers an accelerated alternative to the traditional two-year project format.

This alternative is designed for schools that are ready to make a commitment to creating and supporting school-wide learning teams.

SAC School-Wide is a highly collaborative program designed to help teachers better understand the Illinois Learning Standards so that they may later design aligned curriculum assessment. Educational consultants provided by the Regional Offices of Education and Intermediate Service Centers will serve as both trainer and coach to these schools. SAC School-Wide is a synthesis of the work of Stiggins, Wiggins, McTighe, Burke, and Marzano – all leading experts on assessment and the standards movement.

This accelerated program delivers information and tools to educators through five distinct two-hour sessions. SAC School-Wide positively affects teaching and learning. It is designed to become a self-sustaining program within your school.
